Xena’s journey to Sundog Sporthorse Sanctuary is one of luck, love, and second chances. She began her life connected to a large Thoroughbred  breeding operation in California, where hundreds of horses were kept on the property at one time. From there, her path led her to auction, a place where the future is often uncertain.

Fortunately, Xena was given another opportunity when she was rescued and brought into safe hands. When her adopter later relocated, Xena came to Sundog, where she could continue her journey in a stable and permanent environment.

If there’s one thing Xena is known for, it’s her personality. Sweet, silly, and endlessly friendly, she seems to love everyone she meets. She approaches life with curiosity and warmth, often seeking out attention and happily engaging with both people and herd mates.

At Sundog, Xena has embraced her second act with enthusiasm, enjoying turnout, companionship, and the steady care that allows her to simply be herself. Her joyful nature brings a lightness to the herd and reminds us just how much these horses have to give.
